Calcatre

Calcatre Safaris is a privately owned hunting operation that runs on 26,000 acres (10.000 hectares) of pristine Patagonian steppe country. The terrain and breathtaking views make Calcatre an excellent place to hunt for red stag, fallow deer, Russian boar, Pere David’s deer, Patagonian ram, wild goat, multi-horn ram, mouflon sheep, Juan Fernandez´s goat, somali ram, patagonian dall, and feral oxen. The captivating surroundings and the openness of the country provide the most demanding and experienced hunters with a lifetime hunting experience.

Facilities and service are something we pride and are sure to make your stay one most remarkable. Our experienced guides will make this hunt successful and your hunting memories highly treasured. We offer high scoring stags as few places around the world can offer, as well as many other species of excellent quality.

Our hunts are preferably conducted on horseback, however, for those who prefer or require, hunting can also be done on 4WD vehicle.

Hunting day

Hunts can be one guide per hunter or two hunters per guide. The hunt favors those who go on horseback, making the final approach on foot.

Climate and Clothing

During March and April, weather is relatively benign, cool mornings and warmer afternoons. Temperature, during those months, ranges from 5-20 ºC (41-70 ºF). As fall progresses and winter starts, temperatures descend and frost may be expected, as well as some rain or snow. Patagonia is a windy region, and even though the hunting season is not particularly windy, wind-protecting clothing is a must.

Due to the dry climate, temperature variation during the day is quite marked; it is therefore recommended to bring light and heavier clothing, as well as scratch resistant clothes fit for the final stalk on the prey.

We can also arrange for private flights at the customer´s request and expense.
